Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

it's equivalent to mine/yours/his/hers, etc

#
  • they always go with the article le/la/les
#

e. g. : Je connais ton nom, mais j'ai oublié le sien

coral void
#

i know your name, but i forgot his?

#

why not use le,la or lui

#

also is there a way to deliver the same meaning but in another grammatical method?

potent surge
#

le mien, le tien etc. are not object pronouns. They do not behave like le/la/lui and are not put before the verb.

#

Instead, they behave almost exactly like nouns:
ma maison et la tienne - my house and yours

coral void
#

oh so they change with the thing they are refering to?

#

but why is "he is mine" -> il est à moi , not il est le mien
