Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
not native obviously, but i've heard that exact shortening multiple times
It's quite common colloquialyl to shorten tu to t' before any vowel. T'apprends is perfectly fine in that regard. ça fait combien d'temps qu't'apprends l'français ?
I think QuΓ©becois does something similar, but I'm not entirely certain
Is it common everywhere?
Shortening of tu to t' is quite universal. Canadian French has it, and also has contractions and more generally pronoun forms that are specific to it
so i can shorten Β« tu Β» to Β« t' Β» in front of any word that starts with a vowel, right?
Yes. In practice though it will always be an object pronoun or a verb

T'oublies rien ? T'apportes de la viande, hein ? Etc.
