Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
je progresserai/je vais progresser (depends on the context) en pratiquant
If the subject is different it'd generally be "pendant que je" but otherwise it doesn't vary that much unless you're completely rewording
écrivant is the present participle
Writing the noun would be écriture
Or "in writing" = à l'écrit
I eat while writing = Je mange en écrivant
He talks while I write = Il parle pendant que j'écris
His writing is amazing = Son écriture est incroyable
He is kinder in writing = Il est plus gentil à l'écrit
