Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
I did bad on passe composee
and we are learning about boulangerie
@analog kestrel ?
What's your question?
THANK YOU
is boulangerie like more of meat
also is sortir sorti
and is sont aller but conjugated
I don't understand any of those questions. Can you write them in full sentences?
How do I conjugate aller in past tense
Like if I say I went would I say j’ai alle
Passé composé
je suis allé
tu es allé
il est allé
nous sommes allés
vous êtes allés
ils sont allés
So you would say "Je suis allé" to say "I went".
(or "Je suis allée" if you're a woman)
And how do I know if words are silent
Like étaient is silent
But I pronounced the t
And why is oublient silent
You just need to memorize what specific groups of letters remain silent.
For example
For ils/elles parlent, ils/elles mangent, etc, the -ent is not spoken. This is just a rule of French you have to memorize.
Pronunciation rules in French are fortunately a lot more consistent than they are in English. There are a lot of YouTube videos that cover French pronunciation and phonetics. YouTube is your friend.
