In French possessive adjectives are generally not used for what's called "inalienable possession"
which basically means we don't indicate possessionw hen it's for body parts

Il s'est fait mal au dos (au = à + le)
okay, i understand. Do i need to state possessive adjectives when the action i describe involves two people? Just a stupid example, like "i wash your hair"= Je te lave les cheveux or just "lave les cheveux"?
no, you'd leave it off because the pronoun already tells you who the hair belongs to
