Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

it depends on the object of the verb

#

for people:
the strongest verb for love is "aimer" when it's used without an adverb
adding "bien", "beaucoup", etc. softens the meaning to "like" or "like a lot"
adorer is also weaker when used with people and is more about friendly love

for things:
the strongest verb is adorer… you really love that thing
"bien", "beaucoup", etc. when used with "aimer" reinforce it's meaning -> I really like X
aimer on its own just means to like

Thanks, I think I understand. So if I like someone I should go with "Je l'aime bien" because "Je l'aime" would be interpreted in a romantic way, am I right?
