Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
It's in passé simple, a tense that has been mostly supplanted orally by the passé composé
And by mostly, I mean almost entirely
holy cow so that's why thanks a lot gotta learn it
You can mostly skip it, btw, unless you plan on reading a lot of books. And even then, as long as you can recognize the tense, that's generally enough
i plan to read a lot of books, i could only recognise the basic passe simple verbes like you know -er ones because they follow the future simple pattern minus nous vous ils
and seeing reussir in its passe simple form caught me off
guard
Generally if you see a funky looking tense in a book it's passé simple
There are many more examples of passé simple on the page toy showed, so if you want to make it through that book it might be a good idea to familiarize yourself with it.
yeah, its la conjugaison grinding time.
