For the first one you could translate it to "it goes while widening". My guess is the artist wanted to convey the action of going into the cave, plus de widening space of the cave, all in one panel.
So you get the "elle va" which in this instance represents the cave "la grotte" thus the "elle", and the conjugated "aller" for the action of going forward.

You can say similar things such as "Les choses vont en s'améliorant" = things are improving as time passes
