Going through my Anki deck I came across this sentence "Il voulait en savoir davantage sur les fleurs" which the deck translates as "He wanted to know more about flowers"

What I am not sure I understand it's the usage of the "en" in there and what is it for.

I am reading this:
https://www.lawlessfrench.com/grammar/en-adverbial-pronoun/

And I am not really sure in which case the en applies here

Savoir des choses sur quelque chose => en savoir sur quelque chose

When a noun is preceded by an indefinite article, it is replaced by the pronoun en.
J'ai dit une bêtise => J'en ai dit une
J'ai dit des bêtises => J'en ai dit
By the way, since the indefinite article un/une can also be seen as a number, a noun preceded by a number also gets replaced by en while said number remains after the verb.
J'ai dit deux bêtises => J'en ai dit deux
