Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
so first off: français
(you gotta have the accent)
all three are possible, with slight nuances
the most neutral way to talk about speaking a language is without any article or preposition:
- je parle français
= I speak French
using the definite article "le" is possible, but is pretty rare these days. Historically it was used for when someone had learned a language as a second language:
- je parle le français
= I speak French (as a second language)
using 'en' defines the type of speaking you're doing and is probably used to contrast :
- je parle en français et pas en espagnol
= I'm speaking French and not Spanish
notably, this last one is simply concerned with the language being spoken and not with ability to speak
