Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
"porter" describes the current state of your clothing. It is ongoing. It is transitive, asking for the clothes you're currently wearing as object (usually translated as "wearing")
"mettre" describes the action of putting clothes on. It's something that happens at one point and is not ongoing. It is transitive as well, asking for the clothes you're putting on (usually translated as "putting on")
"s'habiller" describes the action of putting clothes on, just like mettre. That said, it is intransitive, and doesn't ask for which clothes you're putting on. It just either describes the action of going from naked to dressed or not well dressed to well dressed (usually translated as "dressing")
so, "je porte des vetements chauds", "metts ton chapeau" and "je m'habille chaque matin"?
yes, for instance
Mets, not metts by the way.
