Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
First off: don't use machine translators to try to learn the language! Machine translators just try to give you the best approximation for the input you've given, but they understand nothing about how language or grammar actually work
In this case, the verb 'croire' is more probable in French, but both croire or penser could work
Note that even in English it would be perfectly okay to say "I believe I've met you before"
Croire et penser sont corrects.
Il y a un tout petit détail (pas très important) :
-
Si le visage de la personne te dit quelque chose => je crois que je t'ai déjà vu
-
Si le visage ne te dit rien mais que tu travailles par exemple dans la même entreprise que la personne => Je pense que je t'ai déjà vu = C'est probable mais je ne me souviens pas du tout
