Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
<passe compose and passe recent>
Passé composé describes an action that happened at some point in the past. It can be days ago, weeks ago, months ago, whatever, as long as it was a completed action. The passé récent is the same thing except that instead of it happening whenever in the past, it only happened shortly before the present. Basically, passé récent is passé composé with an emphasis that something was just done now. This pairing of sometime-in-the-past and just-before-speaking can also happen with the other past tense, the plus-que-parfait.
