Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
when the verb is conjugated, "ne" goes before the verb and "pas" goes after
"pas" isn't the only negative adverb in french
there are a few, depending on the meaning
ne... pas = not
ne... plus = not anymore
ne... rien = nothing / not anything
ne... jamais = never
ne... que = only
ne... personne = no one / not anyone
etc
what is confusing you about the order?
in both cases "ne" goes before the conjugated verb and "pas" goes after
in the first sentence, "aime" is the verb
the word order is the same in both sentences
elle n'aime pas
elle ne comprend pas
"ne" contracts to "n' " when followed by a vowel sound
the same happens to a lot of words (je, te, le, la, me, de, que...)
de, me, ne, se, te, jusque, que, ce, je, le, lorsque, puisque, quoique with -e
la with -a
si with -i specifically when followed by "il" => s'il
tu with -u informally as well
there are a number of them
my personal recommendations would be Lawless French + Anki
Lawless French has a bunch of grammar articles about grammatical rules and how to make sentences. If you want to learn some concepts or clear up confusion about some rule it's probably the way to go.
Anki is more of an app than a website. It's a flashcard app that can help you practice vocabulary on a daily basis
