Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

should be correct

#

part translates to portion, which would work with tarte

#

also, part is feminine and morceau is not so there's that too

quiet isle
#

How to say "a slice" then?

I've seen tranche used as slice before, but I'll let the natives answer that

blazing sphinx
#

yep that's exactly it

#

we don't use « tranche » for pizza, cake or pie, only « part »

#

« morceau de tarte/pizza » would also not really be said, but « morceau de gâteau » would mean "piece of cake" (but not the figurative meaning, only the literal one)

#

for an example of what « tranche » is used with:
« tranche de pain » = slice of bread
