Here are some initial resources for you.
Dictionaries
- https://en.wiktionary.org | Look up French words there for a lot of information and examples.
- https://www.wordreference.com/enfr/ | Great for finding direct translations of words in various contexts.
https://usito.usherbrooke.ca/ | A multipurpose dictionary that focuses on both Québec and France French, with a conjugator and a thesaurus.- https://www.cnrtl.fr/definition/ | Excellent dictionary that may be difficult for beginners to use. Contains extensive use cases (including prepositions), examples from literature, pronunciation details, etymology, and more.
- https://www.expressio.fr | A dictionary for expressions.
Translators
- https://www.deepl.com/en/translator | One of the best translators out there (Google Translate is bad with context!).
⚠️ Translators are not good tools for learning about grammar, in particular when used for very simple sentences or sentence fragments. If you are trying single-word translations, you will almost always be better served by a good dictionary.
Pronunciation
- https://forvo.com/languages/fr/ | To look up the pronunciation of French words or phrases.
- https://youglish.com/french | To find examples of words being used naturally in French YouTube videos.
Courses
- https://www.francaisfacile.com/ | For a variety of little courses and fun exercises.
- https://www.italki.com/en | Customisable 1-on-1 paid lessons.

- https://www.clozemaster.com/ | For learning vocabulary in context, not for complete beginners. (A2 - B2)
