Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
What are you trying to say?
Des fruits would just be some fruits, a non specific set, where as les fruits would be a specific set of fruits probably previously talked about
"des fruit" does not exist.
"des" is indicative of a plural, so you have to use a plural noun (fruit is singular, fruits is plural)
"il mange des fruit" is incorrect. The actual sentence is "il mange des fruits"
"je mange du fruit" -> I am eating some fruit (probably just one type)
"je mange des fruits" -> I am eating some fruit (this time, multiple types of fruit are implied)
"je mange le fruit" -> I am eating the fruit (and you know which one because we just talked about it)
"je mange les fruits" -> I am eating the fruit(s) (and you know which ones because we just talked about it)
part of the trouble here is that "fruit" is often used uncountably in English, so it gets a bit confusing
the rules for articles apply to all types of nouns in French, but often foods end up being used with partitive articles
technically, yes, but it sounds a bit odd since normally you'd say what you're eating lol
je mange une pomme
je mange une pêche
je mange une poire
etc.
