Spoiled food should turn to compost not garbage.

Spoiled food should have a green background and turn to compost when placed on the ground.

As of right now i have 4333 spoiled food and i would need to use 722 blocks of dirt to turn it all into compost. Once dirt is used in that fertilizer recipe its gone from the world. That's a lot of dirt to remove from the world. If we could place spoiled food on the ground we could turn 400 spoiled food into 1 compost. This would give people an option to place a few spoiled foods to make compost or if they are swimming in spoiled food then can turn 400 into 1 compost and free up storage space.

That doesn't make a lot of sense as the filler to create compost fertilizer with compost still uses dirt, so both recipes use dirt, just one a little more indirectly.
I do feel your pain though, as road work wraps up dirt is less plentiful
