To the Federal Government of White Tiger,

Good morning members of the Federal Government, President Dennis, as well as the countless Judges. I would first like to say I am thankful for all the hard work that is put out. However, today I am here more then to say my thanks. Today I urge you, the Federal Government, to repeal the recently passed "Mandatory Voting Act"

This act was originally brought up as a way to increase voter turn-out in a low elections that often have low turn-outs. While this may solve the low turn-out, this does not solve the problem at had. Citizens are often uniformed and, often times, do no vote on the premise of not being educated enough on the subject at hand. Forcing their hand to vote would cause them to make an uninformed vote, resulting in the democratic process being diminished. This is because the voter are being coerced and the likely event of anyone who would have abstain is to cast their vote at random. "The main effect visible in Australia is the frequency of the so‐called “donkey ballot,” where voters randomly pick a candidate or party without giving it any thought, often simply choosing the option listed first on the ballot. Others return a blank ballot, clearly going through the motions only to avoid punishment." (Andy Craig)

Another clear reason this law is bad is because of the violation of our freedom of speech. Yes, WT is written with large influence from the German Constitution but at the same time, the US constitution has had an influence on it. We see this with the idea of states. That was an attempt to create a federation with the idea of the US. With this in mind, the rights that are included also should have influence from the US constitution. In the US, our first amendment, Freedom of Speech, is a fundamental fight that we all hold dear. This right also comes with the implied Freedom to Not Speech. This, in practice, means that the citizens have a right to no be compelled to speech and as such, can not be forced to vote as voting is a form of speech. We should, no, we must accept that here as that simple fact assure that the Federal Government does not further limit our freedoms on the basis of "more votes". "The president apparently does not believe that the right to speak, which is protected under the First Amendment, includes the right not to speak. And there is no question that we are speaking when we make our choices in the ballot booth. When we don’t vote, we are again making a choice, a choice not to speak that also sends a political message." (Hans A. von Spakovsky)

Lastly, other means should have been taken prior to diminishing a fundamental right. We must, at all cost, preserve what we feel is fundamental to our core values while assuring the Federal Government does not stop on them. You, the Federal Government, did not even attempt a less intrusive way to increase voter turn-outs. Dworkin says it good here to support this position. "...“paternalism is justified only to preserve a wider range of freedom for the individual in question.” From this point of view compulsory voting is not justified, because there are many other (yet less effective) ways of increasing voter turnout that are not coercive. " (Karel Kouba and Stanislav Mysika).
