Eco is simulating a Planet. WhiteTiger seems to wanna do that too. But unlike in Reality our Roads are able to cross Oceans and even Deep Oceans (whatever the difference). With the addition of boats we should consider that Roads cannt cross Ocean and / or Deep Ocean.

It could give the Server more character and realism to limit the construction over these Terrains further. Testing different rules concerning roads and Ocean seems fitting to the coming playtest cycles.

We actually have highly reduced ocean sizes on WT to make them more like big rivers.

I did increase ocean size a bit for this run and am considering increasing it a bit more for next cycle.

Im also experimenting with the waterways legislation law to push bridges towards later game as bigger and limited engineering projects.

We're open to increase that depending on how much use the fishing boat gets.

A main reason for having these little things was that water biomes as is were absolutely useless and wasted space.

Deep ocean is essentially the depth of water where building normal foundations from the ground as support is unfeasable IRL

But due to the scale and nature of both gameplay and size in general that obviously is a bit hard to replicate so it kind of turns into larger rivers / lakes instead

I like the idea of big oceans that are difficult to cross and all that it will mean for trade and logistics. However can we get a mechanic where you can "immigrate" to a new town across the map under certain conditions so you don't get stuck in a location or with people you dislike. πŸ˜„

Currently if sea size was increased and you'd established yourself with a house etc relocating with a canoe would be a nightmare, especially with needing to remove your claims and have all your stuff taken as you try move, especially on servers that don't have the same level of GM involvement as WT. Maybe you can pack everything up in a "crate" and be brought back to the map like when you first log in but you can only do it once per cycle.

So far the ocean splitting the world into pieces and the boats and so on have been excellent for gameplay and have really made the different parts of the planet feel different. It has been a huge win in my opinion. Keep up the great work.

I would like to see more deep areas and less shallow river areas. Otherwise I've enjoyed my wooden submarine.

I’ve really liked how little bridges have been built. Everything this cycle has felt much more organic in it’s creation.
