For this week's Topic, we're hitting up the Dreamcatched discography, with a twist. Fans know that Dreamcatcher's discography as a whole is filled with many amazing B-sides, but are there any that don't receive as much attention as others? If so, why, and what makes them appealing enough to listen to? Let us know!

Is this the part where I just need to say Scar, cause I think this cord knows that no explanation is needed as to why.

Diamond, extremely underrated imo, it's one of my favourite DC songs

Poison Love is my all time favorite Dreamcatcher song, and I’d pick that, but it certainly has quite a bit of attention. For the more underrated songs, I’d have to go with Whistle. Like Poison Love, it is also a trance song and very danceable. There is also a ||chair choreo|| to go w/ the song, saw it at the || Halloween Online Concert|| a long time ago.

Special shout out to Don’t Light my Fire, that is very underrated

Sleep - Walking

Lullaby probably because it's one of the oldest DC songs and it sounds like a typical Ballad. I think its appealing because it's a sad song and it gives me the feeling of missing something.

Hmmm, a b side that doesn't receive as much attention, I don't think Daybreak has been played at recent concerts (or any? - maybe one day ot7, too, like Scream).
The melody calms me - I enjoy Gahyeon's ("So good night bright* light and I - it's soothing), and I don't think she has many vocals similar to that in other songs? (She may and I just don't know)

Sleep Walking almost seems non existent to me. I never see anyone mention it except in passing.

Whistle deserves more recognition tbh,I just feel like they push mayday, break the wall and wake up bc they sound more rock and get audience to join them, but whistle would be better without choreo to me and I would like them to perform trap and can't get you out of my mind again

Some ballad and slow songs, such as Lullaby, It's OK (Gwenchana!), and Dear. Their ballad songs needs more recognition tho

Songs like 4 Memory and Always will always stick out to me, the melodies and the vocals in both songs are so good and the lyrics are really nice

"Lullaby" and "Its alright" are some of my favorite b-sides, though I often see them slightly more overshadowed by other ballads like "Emotion" or "Polaris".

Sleep-walking for sure, that along with Curse of the Spider are some grade-A drum n bass bangers and you rarely ever hear a full on dnb tune from start to end in kpop let alone by a girl group. The vocals for both and choreo for Sleep-walking are just the cherry on top. The instrumentals for those 2 tracks on their own are already a bop and a half, and the accompanied vocals just make it that much better.

#

Then of course there's Mayday, Scar, New days for their classic rock sound that I truly love. (Also just want to say that is so awesome that they collaborated with fans to make a live recorded version of Mayday)

Diamond, for having a really cool kinda latin/moomba vibe throughout and then of course the hard hitting but minimalistic chorus with chord bursts in the first half of the chorus then the second half with the vocals coming in.. I'm unbreakable... I'm untouchable. The syncopated rhythm of the vocals that play along with the chords in a kind of back and forth, accompanied by the drums. the snare in particular which has been changed from a traditional snare sound to a pitched up more "tight" snare on the off beat. Some really awesome production details that some may not notice, but really adds to the whole effect of the track and makes it that much more amazing.

#

And there was no one left: Just an awesome chill song with a really great use of a funky bass guitar tone and really interesting funky lead synth that almost has a highly distorted vocal/whinning nature to it that leaves the listener with something of a "yearning" feeling.

Red Sun: Absolutely badass song that gives me a really powerful kinda gothic vibe especially when you watch the MV/performance video. The goth/lolita inspiration in the concept for that is something I almost have never seen in kpop and I absolutely love that they are willing to do something like that. And their updated version for their performance on Webtoon Singer basically solidified my head canon that this is a song with a vampire concept. Oh and I think you can see the theme going on here, the production again is extremely clean and well thought out.

LMao.. wall of text, sorry. I could write essays about every single one of DC's tracks tbh

I have more too, I had to save it in a notepad to share here later, so I don't spam too much Dongkek

Tension: practically a MASTERPIECE (like all their songs, not gonna lie, art)
Red Sun, my fav song, Their recent performance... OMG, tha concept, the song... ALL
Fairytale: Why people is not talking about this masterpiece? The vibes are sooo cool.

Extra: All their Japanese songs are truly amazing.
Just their discography don't have any skip.

I have to give mention to my favorite aspects of Tension (although I believe this track is highly appreciated by many fans of DC), the production on that track has several details to it that I deeply enjoy and when listening to it on good audio gear it really leaves me speechless every time.

To name a few:
There's this massive sub-bass impact that hits at :48 and builds tension that's released by the guitar slide leading into the chorus after Dami says "넌 지금 잘하고 있어". That part is so just so god damn clean.

Then at 1:18-1:21 the way the instrumental transitions into the bridge with the use of dissipating white noise which then get's reversed and distorted as a riser leading into the bridge is just -chef's kiss-.

Finally, at 1:30 when it's Siyeons part, an extremely crispy 808 kick bass is introduced to help fill out the low end to bolster Siyeons vocals on the higher end of the register as well as a supporting melody with the use of piano keys.

Honestly a masterpiece of a track. I could say so much more about Tension but it is probably my current favorite song although I feel like every song I listen to from dreamcatcher becomes my favorite song in that moment LMAO.

then allow me to add the rest of my writeup 🤣

Airplane: I love Damis verse in this, something about the way she enunciates/articulates the lyrics is very satisfying, specifically whenever there's ㄹ in the character. I really like the way she pronounces that L sound. It gives my brain many serotonins.

Starlight: One word, SYNTHWAVE. like cmon. Dreamcatcher can do it all. I am definitely starting to hear more synthwavey aspects in the kpop industry now, but Starlight, similar to Sleep-walking and The Curse of the Spider for being full on DnB tunes, this is a straight up synthwave track. It is such an empowering song, with it's very constant drum line, the alternating kick and snare that hits on the 1 and 3 for the kick, but doubles up on the 3 every other bar that just provides a forward pushing momentum that fills you with the will to overcome any challenge that may come your way. Truly a gem of a b-side.

#

I have much more to say about many more tracks, but i still need to write them up 💀

i was so sad to learn that i missed their na tour last year. i was not as closely following their activities, at the time in general because of a period of time since i had to take care of a lot personal stuff and i wasn't able to keep up with a lot of kpop or my hobbies in general. and then i found out a month afte the show that they performed in NY and i was soooo sad
