After a slow start, the Research Group is rockin’ and rollin’. The first 35 minutes of the event were excluded because changes to the spawn pool were still occurring. Since then, we’ve encountered 4,035 Horsea and have been rewarded with 37 Shiny Horsea. It looks like a boosted rate is most likely in effect globally! The 95% confidence interval stretches from 1 in 80 to 1 in 150.

Data on the other 9 species is still too scarce to make any conclusions about each individually, but in aggregate we have encountered 8,886, with 79 of those encounters being shiny. The shiny rate is clearly boosted. Shiny Pokémon are well-distributed across all species, which is an indication that the shiny rate is the same across all species. In addition, there have been no significant changes to the shiny rate through time. These conclusions likely extend to other boosted species such as Magikarp and Swinub.
