Once a gym has been taken, the winner can drop in a mon immediately.
And I know people are around, because for a while I went all philanthropist and started dropping mons into gyms I didn't even need... Within 30 seconds that guy would be knocked out. People were there....just being douchebags.

Copy about 20 coords. Paste list into teleporter.
Cut (Delete+copy) all but the first in the list.
Teleport.
Shiny check.
Then the next thing you paste into teleporter should be the next coord.
