I wish someone could figure out what determines a shiny. A long time ago, someone thought there was some random number that belongs to you, and if a mon had the same number, it would be shiny. I know 100% that is not the case, because 1 time (and 1 time only) BOTH of my accounts got the same shiny. Usually only 1 will be shiny.
