Okay. I am having a major problem and I can't figure it out. I can NOT get Wall of Flesh to spawn. I removed ALL mods, started a new world, built a house in hell for just the guide and have let him respawn 10+ times. I am throwing the Voodoo Doll into the lava and it is saying "______ The Guide was slain....", but no Wall of Flesh ever comes. I have tried killing Doll Demons over lava, so that it will drop on its own, and I have even tried deleting floors beneath the guide so he will fall directly into the lava. Same message. No Wall. Anyone ever experience this? Latest version of Terraria, by the way.

That's odd. The only way to enter hardmode is to beat the Wall of Flesh in purpose. There's nothing you can do to undo it. Just find yourself a better weapon and armor.

It's not about how deep. Entering the hardmode, the corruption will spread in a "V" shape with its corner around the middle part of the world. Even the surface will get a direct hit.

Divide the world with the hellavator into many pieces (that will make the cleaning much easier), or just simply make a bowl-shaped (or box, or whatever shape you like) wall below your settlement to protect them from the spread (make sure you replace the background wall too with blocks that cannot be corrupted).
