i would say the star fury, the bee keeper, the murumasa are all good swords
also you need them to make the nights edge which is definately something you should do
also the loot you get from gladiators in marble mini biome is decent
meteorite is also an option
also prolly explore the jungle as you can find op loot there and the materials to make some decent gear, including the blade of grass, another decent sword required for nights edge
but if you beat skeletron you're probably almost ready to start exploring the underworld

You should get better equipement, and wait a bit, the chests start spawning after defeating plantera, in my experience, i had to do other stuff to wait them to spawn, like a farm of truffle worms, making happy the npcs, or just rest in a bed, then you come back to the dungeon, and you should have one, after defeating plantera I started searching a jungle chest, but found nothing, then made some afk farms and random stuff, and then returned to the dungeon, and found one in no time

Was always funny how serious people took hit chance in WoW for the longest time, because base was something like 92.8% for raid bosses. But then sometime in Wrath there was a ton of gear that wouldn't let you cap hit but be way over in DPS anyway compared to gear that could.
