I think the only difference will be which evil you will have at first night as it alternates between day/night cycles (drunk world seed) So I guess in case of crimson you will start with crimson drops on first night and vice versa (example, you speedrun and you want crimtane instead of demonite) - but I am not 100% dure it works like this. This is only guess, maybe some testing can be done

so couple of months ago i was farming moon lord for zenith and i eventually got it, but something interesting happened when it dropped a meowmere:
i used shield of cthulhu, might have been solar flare dash (can’t remember) and the moonlord happened to drop 2 meowmeres. I clipped and replayed the footage, and by slowing it down i found out i picked up one meowmere, but in my inventory i picked up two. I didn’t think much of it, due to the fact that the game was a multiplayer server, could be a connection thing but yesterday I was showing off my magic conch, I used shield of cthulhu on it while unlocking my encumbering stone and i got 2 magic conches, i clipped it and the same thing happened, where i picked up one magic conch but 2 showed up in my inv. Has anyone had this type of experience before? I also find it strange that it was only the items starting with “m”, but it could be a coincidence

Yeah I think I gonna wait till the game version becomes more stable, currently seems like there is many world gen bugs that can break the world (Liquids dissapearing and stuff not generating properly or with wrong content) so is not worth starting a long term playtrought till is more stable so you dont run into surprises mid run after many stuff has been done. Though it won't increase the range as much as it used to the obsidian armor is still a valid choice for the fight. Between summoning potion, bewitching table, and pygmy necklace you can still get fair amount of imps to take advantage of the tag damage of a spinal tap whip

I'm a really big fan of forbidden armour but you gotta prioritise mage for it to work

forbidden is the best pre mech mage armour anyway so the summon stuff is an added bonus

a few points of defense don't change anything in hard mode
