Not really. Keep backup gear and things to craft some for when you spawn, place your spawn in a safe spot from enemies and utilize portable storage and recollecting your items shouldn't be too big an issue.

Reforge your accessories to Warding.
Spider armor is fine, especially if using Abigail for Destroyer, who benefits a lot from the extra slots, and Blade Staff also gets some more damage output from those slots.
If you have Forbidden Fragments and desire more survivability, you can use an Adamantite or Titanium melee headpiece, with the chest and leg pieces of the Forbidden armor. If you don't, Spider pieces are a fine substitute as well.

Bats (Sanguine) are more reliable for the fight, as you can move how you want to and still get consistent damage
whereas Abigail is a bit finicky if you don't whip the proper way
but in terms of pure damage output potential against the Destroyer, yes Abigail is comparable and even eclipses Sanguine at times
just remember to use Firecracker when you're using her to bring out her best results
