A: Factorio, TF2, Stardew Valley, Minecraftโฆ Basically anything survival crafting related is my jam.
Q: What do you think about Uncle Danny?
A: Great guy, really hard worker, fun personality. Probably one of the reasons I made it through the early stages of tModLaoder development.
Q: Which boss in Thorium was your favorite to design?
A: Gotta be the Viscount. The unique design, special world gen arena, boss theme, everything about it I really think panned out well.
Q: Between Thrower, Healer and Bard, which classes are you most and least satisfied with, and why?(edited)
A: I think Iโm definitely most satisfied with Bard currently as we just reworked it, but the Healer could really use some polish and cohesion between itโs items. It's got a lot of fun themes and designs going on, but are loosely tied when they could be tighter.

A: Iโve been developing the mod for about 6 years at this point
Q: Thoughts on 1.4?
A: Visually, it looks very impressive. But since Iโve been modding for so long, a lot of additions to the game are things Iโve seen before, or could code in myself. Itโs an odd feeling to see new content for one of my favorite games and think about how I could make the exact same content right now. Mods are weird...
Q: What do you consider your most regretful change/addition you've done in Thorium?
A: Butterflies. Enough said...

A: In Animal crossing, there are two furniture pieces called โDivermanDanโ and โSpacemanSamโ. I sorta mixed the two together, and thought it sounded nice.

A: Definitely want to add more world gen. I would love to expand and add more biomes and ministructures, but it's one of my weakest points for sure.

A: I think the mod itself just isn't flashy enough for newer players. Modern mods like Calamity, MoR, and SoA all have these wacky, giant bosses and content which really catches people's attention on youtube and such. Thorium is a lot more subdued in that area.

A: 3/10 Barely exists and was a peculiar addition to the game in my opinion. Itโs a different damage subclass to ranged, and the only one that exists in the game. Veeeery odd.

A: Definitely the Ocean. Itโs currently a flat sandy bottom with some coral and chests. Sunken ships, alcoves, and other stuff like kelp would really help it I think. I don't know if world gen is an issue, but I think visually, it could look more interesting.

A: Heck no, I love the Jungle. Hands down my favorite biome just after the Dungeon.

A: Donโt steal peopleโs sprites and be sure to bring something unique to the table. โSword modsโ are a good start, but you gotta branch out quick. Donโt be afraid to experiment either!

A: I definitely would like to, but finding a place for them is difficult. Maybe adding mini-bosses and expanding on Patchwerk and Corpsebloom would be a good start. Takes a good bit of sprite work though.

A: Hardmode for sure. Biggest complaints: Wings and a loss of world gen focus. Hardmode ores barely count in my eyes, as the game starts to focus heavily on mass killing enemies for mats. Some people like it, but I think you could make the game longer (and better for modding) with some changes to hardmode...

A: If they really do add a new biome chest, it would likely have to be for a new damage type or something no? I donโt think itโs likely, but if it did happen, I could just rework the current items to be found somewhere else.
Q: opinion on terraria PvP?
A: I think the gameplay itself could work pretty good for a PvP styled game kinda like awesomenauts. The problem is players have too many options and rangers just pelt you to death from 400 miles away lol. I actually had ideas to make my own, simplified and balanced PvP mod with classes and stuff, but it takes time and effort to do something like that on the side.

A: In vanilla itโs probably mage for all itโs attack options but for modded I like to play Healer. Iโm a support player in most games that have the option, because I like the team play aspect of it. I also just find fun in undoing the efforts of my enemies and keeping my allies alive.

A: Yes, but only once and I can never do it again.

A: Very unique for the modding community. Works more like a Metroid game but has some actually decent bosses and theming since it uses arenas and such. Itโs weird for a sandbox game, but fun in its own way. Itโs kinda hard to elaborate any further than that without an hour to talk about it

A: Iโve always been a huge fan of the first 2 Paper Mario games and wanted to try my hand at a sort of spiritual successor to it. I got as far as a movement, inventory, and interaction system before I lost motivation due to โcertain circumstancesโ.
Q: what is your opinion on the abyss and sunken sea biome from calamity?
A: Itโs probably a cooler way to handle a โDeep dark biomeโ which is why I plan to change the aquatic depths to be a little more bright and colorful. Think more "deep coral reef" less "blue and green nightmare". Thatโs not to say the depths wouldnโt still have its โdarker placesโ though...
Q: Do you enjoy modding terraria, and do you think it has been a good use of your spare time for the last six years?
A: Itโs a mixed bag honestly. I find modding very therapeutic in a way and it calms me down. The problems come from expectations, ulterior reasons for doing it, and a wonder if I could have been doing something else with my time. I feel like I canโt stop at this point as Iโve tried to retire like 4 times at this point. Itโs hard to break away from what youโve done for fun 6 years in a rowโฆ But I do love seeing people enjoy my content. I think thatโs the dream of any game dev (or mod dev). To see people enjoy and analyze your work. Itโs validating.

We are really excited to have Badger with us today! His real name is William and he started playing Terraria in 2011 alongside Jesse Cox and Total Biscuit. He played very intensely at the time than forgot about it until he started streaming on Twitch in 2015. Since then he has been an active part of the Terraria community, especially speedrunning and challenge runs.
He has completed expert hardcore Terraria tons of times. Including challenges like: No armor, no accessories, books only, summons only, yo-yos only, spear only amongst others. He was also able to beat Expert Terraria with only 1hp. (on softcore)

A few personal things about Badger: He grew up in Texas. He has always wanted to make content on Youtube but was always too afraid. He is a huge fan of the Yogscast, and they are what originally inspired him to get out there and make things he thought people would enjoy. He joined the US Army when he was 17. Originally he intended to be primarily a youtuber, but he started one day on Twitch and couldnโt stop. He actually completed his 1501 days in a row challenge last year. He streamed everyday for at least one hour a day on a live streaming service, mostly Twitch, for an average of 6 hours a day. It was an intense experience, very draining both mentally and physically, but he learned a ton!

@shy bronze though out the run I had everyone in my corner. The production team at agdq, the crowd, and even other Terraria speedrunners on the discord cheering me on. This helped me so much to be in a good place and enjoy my time during the run.
@river lake master mode! I want to be the first person to ever complete it on hardcore!
@neat badger the gdq was as blown away as I was. They were so kind to me about the run and interview, encouraging me the entire time. Even hours afterwards members of staff were coming to me to congratulate me.

@sick compass the community! Friends in the community encouraged me to start running, and I resisted at first, but I quickly found it was something that suited me so well!
@red hedge positivity is very difficult. Rather than focus on being positive all the time I encourage you to embrace this reality: everyone is sad sometimes. When we can find ourselves in a place that we can accept the entire Gambit of emotions that we experience we can begin to deal with all those emotions in a healthy way.
@meager crypt total biscuit and Jesse Cox playing the game got me into it! It was an incredible playthrough and is one of the inspiration for becoming a content creator myself.

I honestly can't wait! So much work has gone into 1.4 it is going to be absolutely amazing.
Favorite expert mode item?
Easily the eye of choo choo shield. It adds so much mobility to the game early on, very enjoyable.
Who is harder, eater of worlds or brain of cthulhu?
Brain is absolutely brutal, there are so many status effects it can cause, including curse, which make the fight brutal sometimes.
funniest moment at gdq?
Laying down on stage when the crowd made me laugh myself out of my chair. ๐
Or maybe when sent was crawling underneath me during the interview.
Would you nerf fishing?
I don't think so. It is such a time sink that I balances the strength of fishing out. Spend a long time grinding for a cool pay out!
Do you think Skeletron is harder than Wall of Flesh?
Interesting question! Both are dps checks but in different ways. I think the movement during skeleton fight really stands out to me as fun and interesting. Meanwhile wof is a straight line ๐

Most pets jump scare me and make me think they are hostile mobs. I really like the companion cube though ๐
How do you contain the evil biomes? In non run worlds.
Beat the game 
generally I do tons of hellavators around the world isolating each biome.
Any tips to survive early hardcore expert?
Be brave! Get out there and explore, find new items by taking risks and get strong early! How is especially important early.

The audio. The audio cues are extremely preice and well done. I think this is often ignored, but you can really use the audio to your advantage.
What made you decide to speedrun Terraria and what has kept it fun for you?
Speedruns are interesting in that they add a whole new aspect to the game and a layer of competition that keeps things interesting. The speedrun friends I have made along the way are what keep me interested and entertained.

I honestly wouldn't change a thing. I know I failed the run and we had to get cut short, but I think a lot of people fell in love with Terraria yesterday, and I wouldn't change that for anything.

I have lost a hardcore character just before moonlord fight to a trap... It made me feel a lot of things. I think failure helps us grow as people and that the experience made me a better person.

A: DM Dokuro is a legend and it shows in his work. I personally believe his more subtle, calming tracks are underappreciated!
Q: Why the name Hectic?
A: When I was younger I wanted my username to start with the same letter as my first name and describe me. Arguably still applicable.
Q: How many hours do you have in terraria and do you have all achievments
A: Just about 2,000 and no. My achievements are permanently broken so I get the first night achievement nearly every other day. Never doing 200 fishing quests either LOL

A: Burgers are my favorite.

A: Ketchup. Not at all related to the previous question.

A: Easily Supreme Calamitas. Very consistent, rewarding, demanding fight.

A: Eventually! They take a lot of work to set up.
Q: What's the part of streaming that you enjoy the most?
A: The impact streaming has on me is incredible, but being able to impact others has really sealed the deal for me. I often sit back at the end of the day and think all the stuff I say on streams are stupid and ridiculous, but it seems to have a genuine positive effect on people. That's rare and special -- and I hope I can do that for an extremely long time!

A: Somebody accidentally mad a typo of naysayers by writing "neighsayers" and I sat there laughing like an idiot for half an hour thinking about stubborn horses.

A: Yup! I'll be getting to work ranking every biome and sub-biome soon.

A: Delinearize hardmode. I want to be able to spawn into hardmode and immediately battle the Cultist. Prehardmode does this, so why shouldn't harmode?

A: Probably beating the Drowned playthrough. Finishing that underwater playthrough took me months, so finally achieving my goal was absolutely wild.

A: Mage is one of the most unique and varied classes in the game imo. It's very fun to mess around with all the different types of weapons you can have!

A: One time in Minecraft somebody encased me in obsidian and gave me a huge slowness debuff. I thought I couldn't get out, but then i set the obsidian box on fire and it turned into a Nether portal. I'm literally the smartest person on the planet.

A: I regularly throw away absolutely essential items to my playthroughs in Terraria. I also one time reloaded my game before collecting loot from the second to last boss in a speedrun. There are too many potential answers for this question. I need to lay down.
