Defeating skeletron will disable the dungeon guardians from spawning and killing you. If you want to fight the dungeon guardian and kill it then one method is to create a spawn point nearby the dungeon using a bed (It may require some timing) then use a rapid fire gun like the chain gun, SDMG, or megashark with crystal bullets to maximize damage since the dungeon guardian only takes 1-2 damage per hit

Ok cool. For skeletron make sure you have good gear and weapons (I am not sure what class you are doing). Make sure to also avoid its head when it spins and circling around skeletron is a good way to dodge its attacks even in expert or master mode. Rocket boots and a good arena will be enough. A featherfall potion also won't hurt
