you don't really need any armor against the pirate invasion, since the only enemy that can pass through walls is the pirate ghost, which can be easily dealt with

techincally best pirates armor is likely titanium for the kb shards to make ghosts even easier to stunlock away

Early game tip for getting a lot of good fishing done. Always be catching worms. Watch for rain, be catch them worms! Also... I didin't know this at least back in the day but break all the little rocks on the surface the "rubble" ones, often multiple worms pop out of each one
