ok i may be stupid i just now realized why it wasn't showing up (the thickness is set to zero)

that being said the thickness does seem to default to zero now which i'd say is a bug in and of itself

Newly created custom shapes have thickness 0

ok yea after further testing another issue i found relating to this:
when you create a custom shape using the arrow button here (idk why this isn't the custom shape icon actually)

it automatically spawns in this shape

for one, why is the slice count set to zero

#

secondly, changing any of these values will have the thickness set itself to zero without updating the thickness slider to match

#

if the player touches the thickness slider at all, the shape is fixed and everything returns to normal (minus the slices slider still showing as zero despite just being the default value of 3. this can also be fixed by readjusting the slices slider at all)
