Game freezes when the controller disconnects

I was playing normally with a custom level when the battery of my controller ran out, the game paused and I went for another pair of batteries, and when everything was in place the game was just frozen, I had to restart it, after that the issue was gone.

yeah that'll happen, whenever my controller disconnects I gotta restart

not sure how fixable it is though
