also there's the legends ZA petmod so we have the new megas there which is fun
sure they have speculative abilities but it's still decent

also wdym slow showdown battles have always been pretty fast paced if you're on ladder due to the simplicity of the UI and etc
they're just not as flashy on cartridge

I think the main issue with the gyms is there was no real reward for completing them besides bragging rights and just wanting to battle, but then again I dont really know myself what could be done or given as a reward for someone who beats all of the gyms
also gonna be completely honest the gary oak impersonator was a big turn off personally but that's besides the point and not anyone's fault
this is some of the stuff we did in another server for example, still have them saved to this day lol

We did do this a long time ago
We had badges and role that would rotate
But then as people lost interest in battling the league was shut down
It ran for a couple seasons? Maybe like 5 or 6 on USUM/SM
And we had badges and a profile associated with it
The later leagues scrapped the concept of badges but we did more theme and random battles ie. Gym leader handicaps and what not
Which went well till the leaders dipped 😂
In terms of an ultimate prize we used to do shinies
But those are next to no value now 💀
