I'm planning to customize a Gentoo for my personal use. Additionally, I want to ensure synchronization across multiple devices (e.g., laptop and desktop). What are your thoughts on this approach, and what suggestions do you have for optimizing such a setup, including synchronization between devices?

Yeah for compiling once, I will tell you my idea:
In the home lab I want to configure there and compile everything then and so on a desktop, laptop has synchronization, for compiling file the time I connect in local network

So my real work would be in homelab and others are just small copies

Distcc is not a good idea in the modern world.

The TL;DR is that the network overhead is likely to be a significant bottleneck unless you have a ton of distributed compute and an incredibly fast backbone

I keep meaning to try it on some 100gbit HPC nodes...

If you have a fast server the best thing to do would be to have it act as a binhost builder for your workstations or something like that IMO
