Beyond that, I am pretty much utilising my normal research method with little changes to it, and it's paying off. Not used to the amount of phenotyping I've needed to do to figure out the photos where the notes weren't enough, but apart from that it's just like regular research to me :P including the same dopamine kick when I know that I'm on the right track, and then get the confirmation for it 😂

Thank you. Scarlet witches are annoying but also really easy to take down. Just make sure you move alot between walls so she loses her magic aim at you. Try to heal up or find a support near you. Then damage her really quickly and fast while moving between the objects / walls. If she ults I usually try to attack her quickly (she's weak during ult) or I use cloak to make everyone immortal.

If its something not ult related i just use cloak to blind her, then damage her/ or escape.

But the dynasty tree aspect & each person having a family tree aspect makes it so much fun for me to just scroll around for fun, lol, instead of trying to conquer land

Very similar vibe to Manor Lords, but some different game mechanics. I like that with Manor Lords, you can specialize the houses. FF does not have that, but it does have things like crop rotation, food spoilage, and managing attractiveness to upgrade houses.

I like the concept but the UI design looks so oldish and complicated for my liking 🥴 I have had the same issue before with Crusader Kings II as a Crusader Kings III player. Games have changed a lot visually in just a generation.

Oh yes! I played Caesar 3, Pharaoh, all those classics so much! I tried playing the remake but remembered the original game so well that it did not keep my interest anymore. I wish they'd release new campaigns.
Another favorite of mine is the Railroad Tycoon series. I still play RRT 3 regularly.

Speaking of CK3, my current run is being quite a mess 🥴 I started out as the Duke of Bohemia (with a character from Kingdom Come) but lost two counties right after the start to some neighbors, then my character was maimed in battle and left in debt for 10 years. Once I recovered I tried conquering some weak counties in the north but at the very same time I got invaded by Bavaria and lost the entire duchy... I never had an early game as bad as this one

Without lands I saved up money and built an army to reconquer Bohemia, but at that point I had to leave for dinner so I prayed for AI to manage stuff meanwhile.
I came back to find this: I won a war for a county (red dot in the pic) in the middle of Hungary 🥳 but it's in the border between Catholics, Slavs and Orthodox ☠️

The treasury is gonna be so intriguing to play with

1. As a vassal in the Empire, all taxes you collect from your sub-vassals and domain are sent upward to your liege, and they will send it upward similarly, until it reaches the Emperor. To contrast, Feudal Vassals send only a relative percentage up to their liege, and keep the rest.

2. The Emperor will convert a large percentage of this vassal income into Treasury, a new resource that represents liquid assets that are supposed to be spent only on governmental tasks and investments. Whatever the Emperor does not convert is added to the Emperor's own coffers of gold. (Treasury has a 1-to-1 relationship to Gold, if they ever are converted.)

3. Then the Emperor sends Treasury downward to all their governors (vassals), based on the taxes collected by each governor, plus any adjustments specific for the title they govern. Those vassals send down Treasury to their sub-vassals, etc. This could mean you might receive more Treasury from the central government than the taxes you were able to collect. For example, Military Governors in a Protectorate border circuit out in the barren desert might receive more, since they are paying for a sizable army.

The new map that will include East Asia will be added to the base game, but for the rest I don't know. It's worth to point out that they're still quite early in development for this and even have another DLC releasing before this one.

The only reason why they're doing these dev diaries so early is because of how massive the DLC will be and they said they want lots of community feedback. All that to say what's planned rn to go into the free update might (and probably will!) change.

I played a city with eight people: four men and four women. I gave them the names of my great-grandparents. And then I let them have children until they had a child of the right sex to be my grandparents. Etc, until I got me! That was fun. I would model the initial eight after the photos of my great-grandparents and had a lot of fun seeing how closely their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren actually had the same features as their IRL counterparts.

I also liked just building the houses. If I had building plans of ancestral houses I would build them in the Sims to get a sense of the space.

Are there ways to besides outright fighting them for it? How do you get a claim over a kingdom (if possible) since it seems like a King can't get a claim over a separate Kingdom, just counties within it.

If you're talking abt claims then if they both have/will have pressed claims on their respective kingdoms then yeah their own children will have claims on both. Children of a living ruler should get a pressed claim when that ruler dies, iirc the only way they wouldn't is if their parent's kingdom gets conquered. Then when someone with a pressed claim has a child that child gets a unpressed claim which is like a pressed claim but their own children won't inherit any claims.

The only way that hasn't been said here so far of the top of my head at least is if you're a Emperor(ess) you can peacefully vassalize a kingdom where the king still rules but is now your vassal. It's pretty hard to do if you're not focusing on diplomacy and even then it's still fairly hard to do, but you can still make it happen that way.

They are also specific culture/religion/region ways as well but I would need to know where you're playing and the culture and religion of your character, and I'm pretty sure, but not positive that most if not all of those ways involve fighting at least in some amount.

I found this one to be quite easy to do (with counts of the same religion and similar culture) when you're powerful enough

If you hold all the kingdoms, and not vassals then what I like to do sometimes is to give some stuff to my player heir. Makes it way more manageable, and you get it back once you die. Just make sure they don't hate you lol.

In my current playthrough (still continuing off from the Tutorial playthrough) my character just died. Most successful ruler so far I think.

Lived to 70, had really high piety and made a good amount of money that I spent upgrading different towns. Also changed a law so my two heirs, when they get their shares of my holdings, that the younger son doesn't automatically create the Kingdom of Wales so I can still keep it for later.

But now that I'm the eldest son, the two dukes that hold the two areas of to-be-Wales hate me all over again.

But I also randomly have a pressed claim on the Kingdom of Bohemia now lol

At this point I think I'm gonna try to manage my kingdom and other people within so they don't hate me, instead of trying to go for Scotland Alba and/or England since both are more powerful than me militarily and allied with solely each other.

They've had an update recently which added a new world and I've been feeling kind of opposite, like there's too much to do. There's definitely missions that take real world time to gather resources, and at the beginning there's the limiting factor of money/not having all the tools. But I play on PC and enjoy it

I normally play on peaceful with a bunch of accessibility settings and game rules "drowning damage: off" (to avoid accidental PTSD triggers) among other things, so this update is looking pretty stressful for me 😅

I will say that the drowned being able to ride Nautiluses is gonna be a pain, but riding one to not have air go down on a server without the gamerule for that is helpful at least!
(🫂 also given how easy it is for that one to come up in normal gameplay so yay that that's something one can turn off)
