I bought this old 3DS XL that still has an NNID logged in to. I don't know who the owner is but I've been able to use Pokemon Bank thanks to it. I want to mod the 3DS and if possible login to it using my own NNID (which I don't have yet), coz I don't want to risk suddenly losing access to the Pokemon Bank and lose the mons.
My question is... will I be able to remove the NNID on this unit once modded and create my own NNID so I can use the Pokemon Bank?

You can remove the current NNID with a factory reset and link your own, but any downloadable content is tied to that NNID so it will disappear.
Also, since Nintendo does not recognise the sale of NNIDS that current NNID still belongs to the original owner.

If you do it via a factory reset, yes
The video you saw was probably someone removing it with gm9. If you do that you cant log in with a new NNID

When I do a factory reset, wouldn't it ask me to enter the current NNID password? Coz I don't have it.
