Hello, just wanted to ask if theres a way to fix a new 3ds xl with a blue light/black screen. I've already disconnected the component above the cartridge reader and even tried to L+R+Up+A trick and nothing worked. This is the 3rd time this has happened but I was able to fix the issue by using the 1st method I mentioned and made sure the console was charged

The thing is that the system hasn't been modded at all
Oh I see
When doing the stock troubleshooting, do you see the shutdown menu?
Or does it turn off without the menu
Regardless if you don't have reason to believe it's a hardware issue (e.g you dropped it right before this started to happen) then you'll have to install ntrboot https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Ntrboot
The thing is that I did unplug the ribbon cable above the cartridge reader and plug it back in, in the past that fixed it but now it doesn't
I don't believe I dropped the console since I had it in a drawer and in the past 2 days it was working just fine
This issue has happened before?
It just has the blue light and neither screen turned on at all
Yes
Multiple times but I've been able to fix it the same way 3 times now as mentioned
So I'm not sure what could've cause it to not work anymore since I didn't really mess with it between now and two days ago
Do you want me to send pictures as well?
Yeah sure
Well I doubt ntrboot will fix it then, it's probably a hardware issue
This is the video I used to fixed the issue
The blue light black screen of death issue has been a plague for basically all generations of DS. Don't fret though because its an extremely easy fix the majority of the time and in this video i will show you how step by step!

In the past
Oh the Wi-Fi chip
What 3ds model do you have? N3dsxl?
If you have an old model turn off wireless communications. It's it's a new model you should try replacing the Wi-Fi chip.
It's a new 3ds xl
Is the battery damaged?
Yes but when I put the console to charge, the orange light was on when plugged in
Do you think it could be that?
Don't use a damaged battery, that's a fire hazard
I doubt it but it's definitely not good
If it was the battery it wouldn't turn on or would turn itself off
Oh ok
Oh I thought you were talking about the Wi-Fi chip
Thing is I don't see why a faulty game card reader would cause a black screen
I'm not really sure what else to do since I already tried to do the L+R+UP+A trick too, but nothing happens either way
Ask the same question in the Nintendo Homebrew discord server #hardware, they might be able to help you more. Tell them removing the game card reader ribbon cable and plugging it back in solved the issue in the past https://discord.gg/nintendohomebrew
