#3ds recognizes US copy of ORAS but can’t read it

there could be a few reasons for this:

  • the game card's region is wrong - because Pokémon core series games on 3DS (XY/ORAS/SM/USUM) are region-free, the icon and banner will always appear, but the game cards specifically are region-locked, so will still not be usable on a stock console, this can be worked around by having custom firmware
  • the game card got corrupted somehow in a way that doesn't prevent the icon/banner from appearing, but it cannot be launched anymore - this might be fixable, but it also requires a modded console
