Update 3ds?

I just fixed my New 3ds XL 2 days ago and noticed that it's not up to date, update wise. It's on version 11.3.0-36U. I am just wondering if it is good or not to update it, I know that some things are asking me to update it before I can do them.

If u didn't already out cfw on it doesn't that first before updating. If you did then ur good to update

if you plan on modding it, its best to mod it first and update second

sometimes its easier to mod on older versions

and updating a modded console will not brick it
