I want to put my nnid on my old 2ds because my new Nintendo 3DS is dying. I tried to system transfer, but it tells me that it can't. The I try to sign out of nnid but it says I have to format system memory. So I go to format system memory but it tells me I can sign in with the existing nnid after format. I would like to know if there's a way that I can get my nnid on my old 2ds from my new 3ds. (Btw I do have save data for a new 3ds software.)

You can't go back from n3ds to o2ds
Once u have a nnid on a new 3ds it can't only be tranfer to another new 3ds
But can I sign out then log in again?
To the same device or a different device
Sign out the nnid on the new 3ds to put on the old 2ds
You can't do that
no. Signing out does not unlink the nnid
Even if I format the system memory?
yes, that wont unlink it.
What you can do is contact nintendo though
They may be able to transfer it.
I thought u weren't able to go back from new to old
through the system transfer function, no.
Through nintendo customer service, maybe.
My old nnid was linked to a 2ds xl I no longer have. I was able to call nintendo and they transfered it to an O3DS.
Sign out doesn't unlink from a system on the server
It just wipes the system to allow a different nnid, for selling the system used
Only system transfer or a call to Nintendo can change the linked system. Transfer can do from new to anything but new
Up to agent discretion on if a call will allow back to original model
well technically dae
you can
its just a bit more difficult
