no, they’re universal. i think there is a difference size dock you can buy for the XL, but any cradle works on any 3ds model

no they aren't universal, each one is sized for specific models
and unfortunately the Old 3DS XL charging cradle seems to have been (officially) a Club Nintendo exclusive at least in the US, though Tomee sells a clone of it
