i have a spare 128 gb sd card, it is the same size and shape as a 3ds microsd card, is there any way i could format it to work for a 3ds or should i just buy one that is designed for 3ds instead of switch

#

oh yeah the 128 gb one is “switch branded” basically meaning it’s designed to be used on switch but i don’t see anything that would say why i couldn’t use it for 3ds

#

if i format it

You should be able to, just format the micro SD card to FAT32 before putting it into your n3DS (the switch ones are overpriced tho)

It's paint on the card package. Sd is sd

You pay 5 to 10 dollars more for a card with the Nintendo branding in it

#

Compared to same sd card speed and capacity from the same brand

All currently made sd cards are faster than the 3ds can actually use them
