I’m going on a trip soon and I really want to play my New 3DS on the plane. Can I? Is there an “airplane mode” for the New 3ds?

Yes.

On the home menu press the icon in the top left corner of the touch screen, and scroll down to Wireless Communication. Set that to "OFF"

Wifi isn't required to be shut off, many planes supply it now

Yes, I had wireless communication on, and they didn’t care

Wifi hasn't been a problem on planes in years. Cellular is what messes with aviation radios
