I found this on ebay for 25 dollars, but it seems like too good of a deal to be true. I'm not super knowledgeable on how to tell if something is a counterfit but I have seen that some people reseal counterfits to make them look new. Does anyone know?

It's fake. The Nintendo logo never appears on legitimate (North American) sealed games.

There is a Nintendo strip on the wrapping

#

It's only present on European games. If you have a North American copy (by having an ESRB logo) and it has that strip, it's 99% fake

Ohhh no wonder the other ones had it, thats what i thought

#

hopefully ebay lets me cancel my order 😬 I bought it without thinking and just realized the price was a little too good

Ah ok. I don't really care about the seal tbh, it was just cheaper than buying it used. I should have known better. I reported it and requested a cancellation to the seller

#

Idk if he'll accept though

#

pretty sure ebay can get me a refund regardless of what happens though

It should be fine.

Also avoid red cases as well. I have never seen a ds game with that ever

Not even Mario Kart DS?

Unless there is a special limited edition that I have never heard of no

I am reading on Google, and apparently there are some re releases with red cases that were released at the end of the ds lifecycle

#

so there could be a chance that it's real

#

Actually can you take a picture of your ds cart (both sides)?

Looks genuine to me

I wished that Nintendo did something that VHS manufacturers did back then, which was to hologram the box art.

#

I know that some sports game came with a hologram

Thought so. I'm gonna have to be more careful though, I had no idea counterfeiting was as big of a thing as it was

DS fakes are everywhere

desert yarrow
#

is it as common with 3ds?

main smelt
#

No

#

Mainly because the 3DS carts are more secure and flashcarts where more popular back then

#

Here is that hologram I am talking about on VHSs (this is an arabic disney vhs, but they are common elsewhere outside the US/Canada)

I though you can buy fake eu nintendo foils somewhere in asia for resealing. For me are sealed games therefore completly uninteresting: you dont know really if the right game is in there...
