Hello everyone, several days ago I got my New 3DS XL! I had to wait for ~2 months because it was painfully delayed by customs & Easter holidays.

However, when it arrived I discovered that it won’t turn on nor charge. I opened the console and saw that the original battery was 1. Too old to hold a decent charge; 2. Swollen!
No problems, ordered a new one on the same day and it arrived on the next morning. Despite that, I found another problem - the 3DS won’t charge! The battery icon indicates a charging status and the led light for charging it’s on, but the battery isn’t charging. I left the console to charge for ~1 hour, but it was only slightly charged.
Before leaving today I plugged the charge in and decided to let it charge until I come home. When I came home to my surprise the indicator was still red and the battery hadn’t charged even slightly.

I’m starting to get worried that something might be wrong with either the charging port or the internals, e.g. the PCB, the soldering etc. Maybe I should’ve let the new battery run out completely, then charge it to 100% in order to calibrate it?

Also, the charger that came with the console is an Australian one. In Australia the outlets are type I, but in my country we use type F outlets, so the chargers would have to be different. I have an option to buy a brand new charger from a local reseller, but it would probably take some time to arrive. Instead, I purchased one of those traveling power hubs / outlet converters in which you plug in your charger, and then into the outlet itself - could that be the cause of the issue?

Welp, I wrote it from my phone, so please excuse any grammatical mistakes 😄

Also, at least from my phone, it seems like this thread turned out to be bigger than I thought it would be dissipate

It might be as simple as a broken charger port

Also look inside the charging port there may be lint in there which makes it charge slow

Thanks for the answers, though it isn't an issue with the charging port itself. I went through some forum posts with similar issues and concluded that it must be either an issue with the IC Charging Chip or a blown out fuse. The worst possible case would be something wrong with the daughterboard or something like that. I'm just hoping it's a blown fuse because it's probably the easiest to repair 😄

I'll be sending it to a guy who does repairs on Monday. Hopefully I would be able to get it fixed because I really want to play & enjoy some games, but it's current state doesn't really allow me to do so
