this time i bought this 3ds that looked all fine, seller said no water damage, but was listed for parts, turn on, when i press the power button the blue light flashes for a second then goes away, there's no sd in the 3ds, it also wont give me a charging light when plugged in. Any ideas of what the problem might be? what came to my mind was maybe it's some problem w/ previous cfw, but i have 0 idea on how to work w/ that

When it turns off do you hear a pop sound?
i didnt hear anything
Ribbons should be fine then
It might be the sd card
If you have an older version of CFW without the files to operate it that can happen
is there any way to fix that? seller has no idea of cfw and neither do i lol
See anything visibly wrong w/ it? Also is there supposed to be something connected on the top left corner of the game, where the poorly drawn arrow is pointing to
nevermind ab the top left corner i figured that part lol
Alright so this is as far as my knowledge goes with this issue, it could be the CFW issue I was talking about or something completely different, so there’s a few people will most likely be able to help you with this
@honest lion
@quasi mural
Also @dim hare
Why would you buy it if it was listed for parts even if it looked fully functional
That's like a gamble tho
U can always buy valuable broken 3DS systems with limited unique cases design and replace the motherboard if it's not repairable
yes it appears i am horrible at gambling lol
it's my second try on newish consoles i was more focused in old video games
People usually list stuff for parts when they can't fix them after trying many options
Hopefully someone will provide a solution for you soon
thats the shoulder button cable on the top case
also this seems suspicious
and this
looks like the seller tried to repair the charging port and failed
I got an extra charging port i could try to do it right
Yeah just noticed the pink sticker
Sometimes, yes
Other times it's a trivial fix and someone just didn't care enough to fix it
That's the water trigger pad. It's usually white with pink spots, the pink with pino spots is the color it turns when it gets wet
And that is a nasty install of a charge port that might not even be properly installed by the looks of it
Unless its the speaker ribbon cable
The pink Sticker at the bottom really looks like it had small water damage near the sd card slot etc
Or well not damage but that it had contact with water
Thats a nono sign
Are you good at soldering?
Because i would also recommend maybe clean the Charging port and check if it can atleast draw power
If not then just solder a new one on it
Im alright with soldering might just replace that port
Yeah do that for sure but before soldering it off try to measure with a multimeter if it draws power as i said
If it doesnt work try again after you soldered it off
When it works there then just try to clean the place of the charging port well and put it back then it might charge properly
Also try to look under the SD Card Tray
