Put my 3DS on sleep after playing after about 30 min yesterday. Opened it to play again and bottom touch screen and buttons were unresponsive. I turned it off and on two times and waited about 30 min in between. The A button started working and only lets me select the game I currently have in the 3ds, which is ACNL. What's weird is that A button works to bring up the little option menu (continue game, link HHD data, amiibo camera, etc.) but it wont work to actually select continue game.
On an unrelated note, or maybe related, I downloaded 3 games before the eshop closed and have noticed that there’s been a slight lag in icons loading when first booting up 3DS. Were those tell tale signs? 😔
Anyway, is the solution to my problem a touch screen and buttons replacement? If so, is the ifixit site everyone’s go to for 3DS parts (I’m in the US)? Or should I look into getting a new console?
I'm a little heartbroken because I was just thinking how long I've had this device and how it still works (since late 2014!). This is the first time I may need to repair or just get a new one.
ETA: Nintendo won’t be able to repair mine since it’s an “Original Nintendo 3DS XL - Model No. SPR-001 - Serial numbers begin with “SW” or “SB””
