#3DS SD Card Transder Issue—corrupted files?

Hello! I’m having an issue with my 3DS I wanted to ask the community for advice on.

I have a new SD card I wanted to use in my 3DS. However, when I try to transfer files from the original SD card to my computer, certain files will not copy over (error code 0x80004005: Unspecified Error), and it looks like some files are corrupted (they have gibberish names).

I’ve had the 3DS for years, but just formatted it, and the games I purchased on the Eshop are “Awaiting Download”, so I’m not sure what could be causing the issue. The SD card giving me issues is the default one that came with the 3DS. Should I reformat the SD Card, or is there a better solution I should try first? This is a vanilla 3DS, not hacked.

I have done some searching online but have found a wide, wide variety of fixes, so I’m a little lost on how to proceed.

Thank you!

usually if an sd card starts corrupting like that..its dead/faulty and should no longer be used

It seems to operate in the 3DS just fine—this is the old SD card I wanted to transfer from, so I wouldn’t use it after this.

you can't transfer corrupted files

OK, so is there any way to get a new SD card in this 3DS? Through formatting the system or a different method?

just put a new sd card in the 3ds

#

if its 64gb and over, you will need to format to fat 32, using something like Guiformat.
32gb and under don't need to be formatted

So there’s no issue to just insert a new SD card in the 3DS? I was worried it may cause issues with my Nintendo account.

No

#

you wont have any previously installed games and will have to reinstall them, and your saves will be lost

Gotcha. Should I reset the 3DS to factory default so my Nintendo account is unlinked before I switch the cards?

no..why would you need to do thay

#

just put the damg sd in and stop worrying

#

Nintendos own faq tells you, you can swap sds. Your nnid is signed in ON the 3ds, not the sd

I’m just asking, I’m completely new to this.
