#What to do when the led light goes red on boot, and safe mode will not boot

When I tried the first time, there was a generic error i think when safe mode was attempted. When the button combination is pressed and powered on, it stays on a black screen, but no red led. It seems to respond slowly to the power button of safe mode, and turns off after a few seconds on regular boot. Holding Start or select on boot will prolong the red led and the blue power led, but no luma or gm9

does your sd card have luma on it?

#

the 3ds went through the cfw process, and I never removed luma. Can't check due to stripped screws tho

That symptom is covered in the b9s instructions on github

#

Color of light indicates the specific problem

urban canopy
#

so replace the firm on both the sd card and nand?

slow gazelle
#

if that's what the error indicates

#

and don't use winrar to extract it, it loves to corrupt it

urban canopy
#

don't worry, i don't use winrar, i extract with the built-in extractor

i managed to boot my brother's 3ds, so I replaced boot.firm and boot.3dsx. Will that be enough?

try and see?

#

okay

#

it booted

#

let me try luma selection menu thing

#

yes

#

gm9 also booted!

#

i think it's fixed

slow gazelle
#

b9s wouldn't boot to home menu if luma wasn't working

urban canopy
#

okay

#

it gave me a data abort crash, but it gave those before too

slow gazelle
#

that's not really very specific to know what's crashing

#

data abort means a file was asked for and wasn't there or wasn't readable

#

which could be failing SD, bad NAND file, etc

#

i think it's title.db; i can't check the titles in fbi with a permanent error

#

fault status translation page

slow gazelle
#

so the database on the SD is corrupting

#

which points to an SD problem

urban canopy
#

it's been like this for a while, and when I checked, the SD was fine

#

but I originally had this 3DS's 32 GB SD as 16kb clusters, which may have something to do with it
